Mexico Flag Day is celebrated on February 24 and is an important national holiday dedicated to the symbolism and meaning of the country's flag. This day highlights the pride of Mexicans in their nation and its history.

Flag Symbolism
The Mexican flag consists of three vertical stripes: green, white and red. In the center is the coat of arms, depicting an eagle sitting on a cactus and holding a snake in its beak and claws. Each of the stripes has its own meaning:

Green symbolizes hope.

White means purity and unity.

Red represents the blood shed for Mexico's independence.

Celebration
Flag Day is celebrated with various events:

Flag Raising Ceremonies. In major cities and on government buildings, solemn flag raising ceremonies are held, during which anthems are played and prayers for the country are held.
